The Jewdayo Book

Dear JEWDAYO Friends,

Last December, after completing my first year of JEWDAYO entries, I sent out an e-mail asking you to “show me a little love” if you wanted the series to continue for a second year. Within 36 hours I heard from 300 of you, and your enthusiasm delighted me to no end.

I also mentioned there’d be a JEWDAYO book in 2011. Well, it’s now all designed and typeset and ready to roll. JEWDAYO is a 276-page softcover, with lots of illustrations, a very useful index, and with space on every page for you to enter birthdays of your friends and family or make notes to yourself to keep life together. The book features a JEWDAYO entry for every day of the year, and it’s reusable year after year. The retail cost is $22 plus shipping, with all the profits going to Jewish Currents magazine.

The book will be available before Thanksgiving — but I’m asking you to buy it now, before the Jewish new year begins. I need to have at least 100 advance orders before the presses can roll — and I’m hopeful that you will provide them.

Here’s the deal. Please go to our website at https://jewishcurrents.org/donate. If you make an $18 contribution to Jewish Currents, I will mail you a copy of JEWDAYO as soon as it’s off the press, postpaid, saving you more than $6.

If you go to that website and contribute $25, you’ll get a double treat: JEWDAYO as well as Babushkin’s Catalogue of Jewish Inventions, a truly hilarious book, and you save $7.

If you go to that website and contribute $36, you’ll receive JEWDAYO as well as a subscription to Jewish Currents magazine (4 great issues per year plus supplements that will make your mailbox sing). If you’re already a subscriber, you can give a gift sub.

Finally, if you go to the website and contribute more than $36 — hell, I might write a JEWDAYO about YOU.

These small donations will provide capital for the printing of the book. If we don’t receive 100 orders by Yom Kippur, your money will be reimbursed and that’s that.

Please join in and participate in the life of JEWDAYO. I love doing this project — it’s a daily discipline that increases my knowledge tremendously — but I need just a bit of your financial support to be able to sustain it.

If you prefer to contribute by check, the address is Jewish Currents, POB 111, Accord, NY 12404. Also, feel free to e-mail me or call me with any questions or orders: lawrencebush@earthlink.net, 845-626-2427.

Thanks, friends. Let’s make this work.
