Our 2013 Calendar

Dear Friends:
Five days ago, I wrote the editorial for the Winter issue of Jewish Currents. It is two sentences long: “Thank heavens Obama and not the other guy will be inaugurated on January 20th. Now let’s get to work turning the White House into the Rainbow Room.”
That’s the whole thing — and I won’t have to stop the presses and rewrite it!
The issue itself is something different, an utterly gorgeous, inspiring art calendar for 2013. It has artwork, calendar grids, poetry, and short essays — a total of 54 beautiful, engrossing pages, 15″ x 11″, with more than 60 participating artists and writers. I’m writing now, in advance of its publication, to urge you to give gift subscriptions to Jewish Currents for the approaching season of gift-giving. Gift subs are only $18 each — and the first thing your giftees will receive will be this fantastic calendar, which they will enjoy and use for months and months.
A little over a year ago, when we were about to publish the Jewdayo Daybook, I appealed to you for advance purchases — and we sold more than 100 books, which raised the capital we needed for printing. I’m counting on you for a repeat performance: I have a goal of 100 gift subscriptions, more if we can. We’ll announce your gifts with a beautiful card, and when your people receive their calendars, they will be delighted. It’s truly a great, inexpensive gift — and an excellent way to express your appreciation for the work we’re doing researching and preparing Jewdayo as a kind of calendar-in-motion, each and every day.
