Barney's_Cover_for_Pushcart-1Please join us on Wednesday, October 29th, 7 p.m. for a celebration of our editorial board member Dr. Barnett Zumoff’s new book of poems, Late Blossoms, as well as his books of translation from Yiddish poetry. Cosponsored and hosted by The Workmen’s Circle, 247 West 37th Street, 5th floor, New York, NY 10018. Admission is free, and books will be available for signing.

A much-admired translator of Yiddish literature, Barnett Zumoff has had many lives: as a husband and family man, as an endocrinologist, as a summer camp doctor, as a general in the Air Force Reserve, as the four-time president of The Workmen’s Circle/Arbeter Ring, as an important decision-maker in American Jewish life. With Late Blossoms, he steps into a new and unexpected role: that of poet, a late-in-life recipient of gifts from the Muse. Thirty-six of his creations are contained in this rich and thoughtful book — plus three that Dr. Zumoff has translated into Yiddish.

He will also be reading selections from Yiddish poets whose rhymed couplets he has translated in The Waterfall. Both of these books are published by Blue Thread Books and Music, an imprint of Jewish Currents magazine.
