What is Jewish Currents Live?
We are living through a seachange in American Jewish politics and culture. The attacks of October 7th, 2023, the genocide in Gaza, the growing force of authoritarianism globally, the Trump administration’s use of antisemitism as a cudgel by which to attack civil society, and the emergence of openly antisemitic politics on the right are together reshaping the contours of American Jewish identity. The consensus that has, for over a half-century, defined the terms of non-orthodox American Jewish life—a commitment to both American exceptionalism and support for Israel—is collapsing.
It’s in this moment of transformation that we’ll gather for Jewish Currents Live, a day of politics and culture on the Jewish left. With panelists and performers from all over the world, we’ll gather to participate in conversations on urgent issues facing our communities and experience art reshaping our culture. JC Live will be a space of multiplicity, rooted in the culture and politics of the Jewish left while convening a broad range of voices who are committed to dignity and justice in a time of ethnonationalism.
What is the schedule for the day?
A full day of programming will begin on the morning of October 11th, 2026 at the Brooklyn Academy of Music (BAM) in Brooklyn, NY. Check back soon to view the full schedule and list of speakers on our program page.
How much are tickets?
Ticket prices start at $18 for sustaining members of Jewish Currents, and $54 for non-members. For a full breakdown of ticket prices, see our registration page at jewishcurrents.org/live.
How do I get to the venue?
BAM is located at 30 Lafayette Avenue in Brooklyn, NY. The closest trains are the G train to Fulton Street, the C train to Lafayette Avenue, and the 2, 3, 4, 5, B, D, N, Q, and R trains to Atlantic Avenue-Barclays Center.
All Jewish Currents sustaining members are invited to the afterparty reception. Stay tuned for more updates as it gets closer.
Will there be food and drinks?
Boxed lunches—including vegan and gluten-free options—can be purchased on-site. Quantities are limited and first come, first served. Water stations will be available, as well as snacks for purchase throughout the day. Be sure to bring a refillable water bottle from home. Additionally, there are many food and drink options in the neighborhood. (We'll share a map of recommendations as the day gets closer.)
Will sessions be streamed and/or recorded?
Yes, with the exception of live podcast recordings, all sessions will be available to stream live online with the purchase of a digital ticket. Links to livestreams will be sent to ticket-holders. Additionally, all sessions and performances will be recorded and archived for viewing by registrants after the event.
How will I access the livestream?
We will send detailed instructions on how to access the livestream ahead of time.
Am I guaranteed access to all the sessions I want to go to?
No. We have done our best to predict interest and assign session locations accordingly, but each session space has a capacity that cannot be exceeded. If a session is full (i.e., if there are no empty chairs), our volunteer ushers will turn people away. If there’s a session you’re particularly interested in, we recommend that you arrive early to secure a seat. All sessions will be recorded.
What is there to do between sessions?
In addition to gathering together with other attendees, representatives from our partner organizations (listed on the homepage and program) will be tabling with information, books, and merch in BAM’s lobby.
Is the space accessible?
BAM is wheelchair-accessible. If you need accessibility accommodations that we can plan for in advance, please get in touch. We will also have staff and ushers on call to assist.
What is your Covid policy?
Masking is not required, but the use of masks is always welcome. For the health and safety of our entire community, please stay home and participate virtually if you are feeling sick.
