How do I get to the venues?
Abrons Arts Center is located at 466 Grand Street (at Pitt Street). The Angel Orensanz Foundation is located at 172 Norfolk Street. The closest trains to both venues are through the F/M/J lines at the Delancey St–Essex St station.
What is the schedule for the day?
Registration will open at 10:00am, at both the Angel Orensanz Foundation and the Abrons Arts Center. Sessions will begin at 10:30am and run until 6:00pm. If you’re planning to attend the first session, please arrive promptly so we can check you in before the day begins. Visit our program page for a full schedule and list of speakers!
All Jewish Currents sustaining members are invited to the afterparty reception and comedy show at the Angel Orensanz Foundation (if you’re not a member, join today!), featuring sets by DJs Chaia + Seba Kayan and Slavic Soul Party!
How do I navigate the two venues?
Programming will be running concurrently at the Angel Orensanz Foundation and Abrons Arts Center throughout the day. There is about a 15-minute walk between the venues, and the M14A-SBS bus runs between the two sites. We will be livecasting the panels taking place at the Angel Orensanz Foundation at Abrons Arts Center throughout the day, and recording all panels for later viewing. If you require support with movement between the spaces for accessibility, please email JCLive@jewishcurrents.org so we can arrange transit.
Will there be food and drinks?
Boxed lunches—including vegan and gluten-free options—can be ordered on the event registration page, ordered separately if you are already registered, or purchased on-site. Quantities are limited, so we recommend ordering in advance if you'd like to reserve one. Water stations will be available, as well as light snacks throughout the day. Be sure to bring a refillable water bottle from home! Additionally, both venues are located on the Lower East Side, a neighborhood with many food and coffee options.
Will sessions be streamed and/or recorded?
Yes, with the exception of live podcast recordings, all sessions will be available to stream live online with the purchase of a digital ticket. Links to livestreams will be sent to ticket holders. Additionally, all sessions and performances will be recorded and archived for viewing by registrants after the event.
How will I access the livestream?
Links will be sent out to the livestream ahead of time. We will send detailed instructions on how to access the livestream before Sunday by email.
Am I guaranteed access to all the sessions I want to go to?
No. We have done our best to predict interest and assign session locations accordingly, but each session space has a capacity that cannot be exceeded. If a session is full (i.e., if there are no empty chairs), our volunteer ushers will turn people away. If there’s a session you’re particularly interested in, we recommend that you arrive early to secure a seat. All sessions will be recorded. The sessions happening at The Orensanz Foundation will be simulcast at Abrons Arts Center for overflow viewing.
What is there to do between sessions?
In addition to gathering together with other attendees, representatives from our partner organizations (listed on the homepage and program) will be tabling with information, books and merch in both locations: on the balcony of the Angel Orensanz Foundation and in Room 201 (The Commons) of the Abrons Arts Center. Room 201 is also where you can find exclusive Jewish Currents Live merch, including a limited edition risograph print by cartoonist Sara Lautman. Weather permitting, the Abrons Arts Center's outdoor courtyard will be available for eating and hanging out.
Is the space accessible?
Both venues have entrances to all session spaces that can be made wheelchair accessible. Each, however, requires either assistance from staff or some direction. If you need accessibility accommodations that we can plan for in advance, please get in touch. We will also have staff and ushers on call to assist. Unfortunately, the second floor of the Angel Orensanz Foundation is only reachable by stairs.
What is your covid policy?
Given that we are in an ongoing pandemic, we ask everyone to please test for covid before attending. Masking is not required, but the use of masks is always welcome. Masks will be available at registration, and volunteers will be masking. For the health and safety of our entire community, please stay home and participate virtually if you are feeling sick.
Will there be childcare available?
Yes! There are limited spaces available for childcare on site, at the Abrons Arts Center. If you would like to sign up for childcare in advance, and did not receive a childcare registration form, please get in touch.
