Peter Beinart and Lily Greenberg Call: A Protest Resignation from the Biden Administration

Friday
May 24, 2024

Join Jewish Currents editor-at-large Peter Beinart for a conversation with Lily Greenberg Call, an interior department staffer who became the first Jewish political appointee to resign from the Biden administration to protest its support of Israel’s assault on Gaza. Greenberg Call was a former AIPAC activist, and her journey away from this pro-Israel position illustrates the tectonic shift that is happening among young American Jews over Israel and the Palestinian struggle for freedom.

Lily Greenberg Call is a former Special Assistant to the Chief of Staff at the Department of Interior with nearly a decade of experience in politics and human rights work. Lily grew up doing pro-Israel advocacy with AIPAC and other organizations throughout high school and college, later becoming invested in Palestinian rights and Jewish anti-occupation movements.
