Los Angeles premiere of ‘Scenes from the Divide’

Join Jewish Currents for the Los Angeles premiere of our first-ever film, Scenes from the Divide by Alison Klayman, on May 5th at 7 pm at the Laemmle Glendale theater.

In the lead-up to Zohran Mamdani’s election as mayor of New York City, many of the city’s Jewish leadership, as well as pundits and politicians, worked overtime arguing that the candidate’s history of support for Palestine represented a threat to Jews. By inviting viewers into the homes of New Yorkers on both sides of the campaign, Scenes from the Divide unsettles this familiar story. Rather than a controversy over a particular election or candidate, the film reveals a fierce battle among American Jews over identity, history, and responsibility. Scenes from the Divide explores the story behind the story, uncovering a fraught struggle within a rapidly transforming community.

The documentary has a runtime of 32-minutes. A Q&A with director Alison Klayman and Jewish Currents publisher Daniel May, moderated by writer Adrian Chen, will follow the screening.
