Here Where We Live Is Our Country: Molly Crabapple and Hannah Einbinder in conversation

Friday
May 1, 2026

Join Jewish Currents, This Friday, and Jewish Voice for Peace on Friday, May 1st at 7:30 pm at The Loved One bookstore for the Los Angeles launch of award-winning artist Molly Crabapple’s new book, Here Where We Live Is Our Country: The Story of the Jewish Bund.

In the first popular history of the Bund, Crabapple reanimates what was the most influential Jewish political force in eastern Europe—which was also secular, socialist, and uncompromisingly anti-Zionist. The Bundists fought for dignity and equality, not in an imagined homeland in Palestine but “here where we live.”

The evening will open with a reading from Crabapple’s book by writers Anahid Nersessian, Molly Lambert, Sampson Ohringer, and Elaine Kahn. Then, comedian Hannah Einbinder will join Crabapple to talk about the Bund’s remarkable story and message: that liberation, dignity, and solidarity must begin where we stand.

This Friday is a monthly reading series hosted by Los Angeles writers Ruby Zuckerman and Evan Laffer. Conceptualized as a literary, non-denominational Sabbath, This Friday brings writers and readers across disciplines to gather around a table, share bread and wine, and consider the written word in light of the eternal.
