Jewish Currents and The Intercept invite you to a screening of Israelism, a timely documentary highlighting the transformation of American Jewish perspectives on Israel through the stories of two young American Jews—Simone Zimmerman and Eitan—whose lives change after witnessing Israeli brutality firsthand. After the film concludes, we invite you to stay for an engaging discussion featuring Zimmerman, a co-founder of anti-occupation group IfNotNow, and Prem Thakker, politics reporter at The Intercept, hosted by journalist Emily Tamkin. The discussion will address campus politics and why the fight against antisemitism is intertwined with the struggle for Palestinian freedom and equality.
Simone Zimmerman is an organizer and activist from Los Angeles and a founding leader of IfNotNow, a movement to end the American Jewish community’s support for the occupation.
Prem Thakker is a politics reporter for The Intercept. His interests include climate and the environment, corporate and political corruption, civil rights and justice, and labor. Prem previously worked at The New Republic, The American Prospect, and CNN. He grew up in North Dakota and now lives in Washington, D.C.
Emily Tamkin is a global affairs journalist and author of The Influence of Soros and Bad Jews.
