TOMORROW: A Look at the Two Court Cases Charging Israel With Genocide

A Look at the Two Court Cases Charging Israel With Genocide

TOMORROW, Tuesday, January 30th at 10am ET:

Co-sponsored by Just Vision, Institute for Middle East Understanding (IMEU), and +972 Magazine:

On Friday, January 26th, the International Court of Justice granted many of the provisional measures requested by South Africa in its genocide case against the State of Israel, but did not call for a ceasefire. On the same day, in a courtroom on the other side of the Atlantic, plaintiffs testified before a US federal court in the case Defense for Children International – Palestine v. Biden, a lawsuit charging senior Biden administration officials with complicity in the Israeli government’s genocide against Palestinians in Gaza.

Join us on Tuesday, January 30th at 10am ET to unpack both of these legal proceedings, and to hear about the latest efforts on Capitol Hill to condition US funding to Israel.

Panelists:

Amjad Iraqi is a senior editor at +972 Magazine and a policy member of the think tank Al-Shabaka.

Chantal Meloni is a criminal lawyer and professor at the Università degli Studi di Milano Statale, Italy who represents Palestinians before the International Criminal Court. She is a senior legal advisor to the European Center for Constitutional and Human Rights for the program International Crimes and Accountability.

Diala Shamas is a senior staff attorney at the Center for Constitutional Rights, which is representing the plaintiffs in Defense for Children International – Palestine v. Biden.
