Where Are We? A Press Briefing on Two Months of Israeli Bombardment of Gaza

This Friday, December 8th at 1pm ET, co-sponsored by Just Vision, the Institute for Middle East Understanding (IMEU), +972 Magazine, and Jewish Currents:

Despite widespread calls for a lasting ceasefire in Gaza, Israel has resumed its military aggression in the strip. Over 1.7 million Palestinians—roughly three quarters of Gazans—are now internally displaced; and more than 16,000 have been killed, including at least 7,000 children.

Two months into Israel’s current war, and with no clear end in sight, our speakers will consider the following questions:

  • What are the current obstacles to securing a ceasefire?

  • What are the persistent misconceptions regarding the crisis?

  • How are Palestinians in Gaza, the West Bank, and Israel navigating the increase in violence and political repression?

  • What will we face after the bombs stop dropping?

Moderated by Julia Bacha, the creative director at Just Vision, this online event will feature Fadi Abu Shammalah, executive director of the General Union of Cultural Centers in Gaza; Tania Harry, executive director of Gisha; Daniel Levy, president of the U.S. / Middle East Project; and Fadi Quran, campaign director at Avaaz.
