Coming Soon: The Soviet Issue We are excited to announce the release of our upcoming issue focused on the experiences of Soviet Jews, which should begin arriving in your mailboxes in late March. With a whopping 25 pieces and at over 200 pages, this issue will serve as our Winter 2021 and Spring 2022 issues combined. We have been working on it for over a year in collaboration with a special committee of academics, artists, and activists. We could not have anticipated that we would be releasing the magazine amid the outbreak of war in Ukraine, and though the issue was conceived of and written before these harrowing events, we hope that it will serve as a resource in pursuit of a greater understanding of the complexity and nuance of the region. (To that end, don’t miss our recently-published features on memorial efforts at Babi Yar by Linda Kinstler, and on oligarch Roman Abramovich’s Jewish philanthropy by David Klion.) Also in the issue:
Before the issue arrives, please make sure your address is up-to-date here. This is a great time to update your address because last year’s winter gift will also be mailing soon, which has been stuck in supply chain hell for the last few months. We can’t tell you what it is—it’s a surprise!—but you’re not going to want to miss it. Thanks so much, as always, for your support and your patience. We hope you agree that both the double issue and the gift have been worth the wait. Yours, Arielle Angel Editor-in-chief |
