As I read this entry, I imagined doing a poll at an Israeli ostrich farm regarding the bird’s response to a raging fire that was heading their way. While it was hard to hear them with their heads in holes in the ground, they seemed to agree that all was “beseder.”

We have visited Israel 2X a year for decades.

If you look at Israel in 2012 as compared to any previous period you might understand what the Israelis are happy about: a booming economy, a palpable decrease in acts of terrorism, a state that is growing bigger and stronger every year, a constant engagement with social challenges and strengthening democracy; so why not feel good? The undying enmity of the Palestinians and most Muslims is a given- it has always been there and will continue – as is the European’s knee jerk anti-Israel stance. We’ve learned to live with them. We’ve never had it better!

Hi Ron, I came across your article while investigating the buttonwood agreement.
An unprecedented miracle you have overlooked in your attempt to decipher the happiness of the State of Israel is the openess of Jewish hearts to the gospel of Jesus Christ their Messiah.
God Amighty has been working mighty miracles in the land He Himself put His Name Upon, as an inheritance forever to His beloved Israel. I do not recall God ever mentioning an eternal covenant with any other nation but I do recall that those who curse Israel will themselves be cursed.
Benjamin Netanyahu declared bible believing Christians as Israels only true friends and began bible studies in his administration, Praise God! Furthermore Daystar Television Network is the only Christian channel on both YES and HOT networks in Israel. So perhaps you should factor in Jesus Christ the King of the Jews soon return as a plausible reason for some of their happiness.
Also palestine was once the name given to Jews…not Arabs…lol.
