Jewish Currents magazine announces its the first annual
DORA and ALEXANDER RAYNES POETRY PRIZE
for poems on the theme of
“The American Dream”
We’re honored to have Gerald Stern as our judge.
Gerald Stern is Chancellor of the Academy of American Poets and a winner of the National Book Award.
• First prize: $1,000
• Two second prizes: $180 each
• The top 36 poems will be published as a chapbook by Blue Thread, an imprint of Jewish Currents, in the summer of 2013.
• All submissions will be considered for publication in Jewish Currents.
$18 entry fee (for submission of up to three poems), includes a one-year subscription to Jewish Currents. Prizewinners will also receive a one-year subscription to The Forward newspaper. All entries must be submitted by January 15, 2013. Announcements will be made in March.
Submit up to 3 poems of no more than two pages each and a check or money order for $18 made out to “Jewish Currents” to: Jewish Currents, Raynes Prize • POB 111 • Accord NY 12404. Please put your name, address, phone number, and email on each page. You can also submit online as a single .doc, .docx, or .rtf attachment to firstname.lastname@example.org, and pay the submission fee via paypal at our website.
We accept only previously unpublished work. We do allow simultaneous submissions, but we ask that you notify us immediately of publication elsewhere. Please note that anyone affiliated with judge Gerald Stern is ineligible to enter. Feel free to email any questions to email@example.com.
