Paul Buhle is Senior Lecturer in the History and American
Civilization Departments at Brown University and author or
editor of thirty books, including, most recently, Jews and
American Popular Culture.
June 6th: Cheryl Lynn Greenberg,
Black-Jewish Relarions in the American Century
Cheryl Greenberg is Raether Distinguished Chair,
Department of History, at Trinity College and auther of
Troubling the Waters: Black-Jewish Relations in the American
Century.
September 5th: Gerald Sorin, “Howard Fast: Leftwing and Jewish
Identities”
Gerald Sorin recently retired as Distinguished Professor of
History at the State University of New York at New Paltz and is
author of Irving Howe: A Life of Passionate Dissent, winner of
the National Jewish Book Award. He is currently writing a
biography of Howard Fast.
October 3rd: Maggie Surovell, “Warning Signs,”
a One-Woman Show
Maggie Surovell’s show about growing up a third-generation
red-diaper baby recently ran at The Cherry Lane Theater in New
York and was a New York magazine Top Pick in 2006. One actor, 25
characters!
November 7th: Rokhl Kafrissen, “The Mechanics of the Blacklist”
Rokhl Kafrissen conducts “The Rootless Cosmopolitan” column for
Jewish Currents and has been
researching the experiences of
Jewish radicals during the McCarthy period.
